The Gamma Cygni Nebula

The Gamma Cygni Nebula is much larger and far more complex that most astronomers realise. For example SkyMap Pro quotes a size of 50 x 30 arc minutes yet the image below (145 x 97 arc minutes) still only shows a portion of what is present!

This image was created by median combining 6 x 300 second images taken with a Takahashi Sky 90 with SBIG ST-10MXE and a Hydrogen Alpha filter.

Click on this link to see that the nebulosity extends for several degree from the central star.
