This image was created by median combining 7 x 30 second images using B, V and R filters taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 250 with SBIG ST-8XE CCD. The image has been cut down to be 15 x 15 arc minutes in size.

The open cluster M18 (NGC 6613) is at a distance of about 4,900 light years, giving a diameter of about 17 light years. This is a quite young cluster - its age is estimated at 32 million years.
