This image was created by median combining 7 x 30 second images using B, V and R filters taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 250 with SBIG ST-8XE CCD. The image has been cut down to be 15 x 15 arc minutes in size.
The open cluster M29 (NGC 6913) lies at a distance variously quoted at anything between 4000 and 7000 light years. It has a diameter of 11 light years and an estimated age of about 10 million years. The cluster would be three magnitudes brighter if it were not for interstellar dust.
