This image was created by median combining 7 x 90 second unfiltered images taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 250 with SBIG ST-8XE CCD. The image has been cut down to be 20 x 20 arc minutes in size.

Discovered by Charles Messier in 1779. M 56 (NGC 6779) is one of the less bright Messier globulars clusters. 32,900 light-years away its diameter of 8.8 arc minutes corresponds to a diameter of about 85 light years.
