M85 - Galaxy in Coma Berenices

This image was created by median combining 7 x 90 second unfiltered images taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 250 with SBIG ST-8XE CCD. The image has been cut down to be 20 x 20 arc minutes in size.

M85 (NGC 4382) was discovered in 1781 by Méchain. His report encouraged Messier to investigate this part of the sky. M85 is a lenticular (S0) galaxy with a diameter of about 125000 light years.
