M88 - Galaxy in Coma Berenices

This image was created by median combining 7 x 90 second unfiltered images taken with a Takahashi Epsilon 250 with SBIG ST-8XE CCD. The image has been cut down to be 15 x 15 arc minutes in size.

Messier 88 (NGC 4501) is one of the brighter spiral galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. It is symmetrical, multi-arm type with its equatorial plane inclined by about 30 degrees to our line of sight. It has a diameter of about 130,000 light years.
