Correcting WDS Data Mining for doubles Designed to fail? Stellar Twins Red Dwarf Binary Pairs

Some of my previous publications

These papers are presented here not because they are particularly significant but because they were produced within the framework that existed at the time. The framework for what constitutes a binary or double sta sysem worth reporting has changed over the years but not in a systematic or well-documented manner!

Aitken Criterium Double Stars in the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS)

For some curious reason I cannot trace where this paper was first published. It certainly appears on the web site of the International Consortium of Robotic Astronomical Researchers but I think it appeared somewhere else before it was posted there. This article briefly outlines the Aitken criterium that can be used as a rough test to decide if any pairing of stars is worth including in a catalog of double stars. A number of bright but previously unreported double stars are identified that need to be imaged.

Candidate binary star systems in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data release five

Analysis of data from a small sample from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release Five has identified three candidate binary systems using the Color-Induced Displacement technique.

Common Proper Motion Pairs - 2006

This spreadsheet contains full details of 368 common proper motion pairs. They need to be imaged and checked against the latest available version of WDS.

2520 previously unreported double stars

In this paper Hannah Varley and I present a catalog of 2520 previously unreported double stars extracted from the Two Micro All Sky Survey (2MASS) database. Each pair has both components brighter than magnitude 10 in the 2MASS J band (1.25 microns) and a separation of under 10 arcsecs.
